Maddy and Sven’s Animal Sanctuary was born from the deep compassion and lifelong dream of Katie and Meeghan—sisters, best friends, animal lovers, and advocates for all creatures great and small. What started as a few rescues in their backyard quickly grew into a full-fledged sanctuary, thanks to their tireless dedication and belief that every animal deserves safety, dignity, and affection.

Our sanctuary is built on love—and named for the ones who taught it to us.

Maddy

Maddy was a survivor, rescued from the streets of Newark, NJ. Despite everything she’d endured, she greeted the world with a wagging tail and a heart wide open. She taught us about resilience, loyalty, and how love can bloom even in the most broken places.

Sven

Sven’s journey took him from the racetrack to a life of hard labor as a plow horse—and ultimately, to the edge of despair at a kill pen. But his story didn’t end there. When we brought Sven home, he reminded us that healing is always possible, and that every soul—no matter their past—deserves a second chance.

Together, Maddy and Sven became the heart of our mission. They are the reason we fight for the forgotten, open our gates to the neglected, and create a place where animals can finally feel safe, seen, and deeply loved.
